Arthur Ashby Dies at 57 In California
SPANISH FORK — Arthur W. Ashby, 57, former Spanish Fork resident, died in Los Angeles Thursday.
He was born Aug. 30, 1901 in Lake Shore, a son of Samuel and Emma Clayson Ashby. He attended Spanish Fork schools. In 1916, the family moved to Butte, Mont., but in 1919, returned to Spanish Fork and Mr. Ashby worked in the Eureka mines. He also worked in the Bingham mines.
He married Betty Hill in 1939 in Bingham. She died in 1949. He married Virginia Ashby in 1950 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple. For the past nine years, Mr. Ashby has worked throughout Arizona, helping organize labor unions.
Survivors include his widow, Lot Angeles; one daughter, Leona Ashby, Rock Springs, and a stepson, Eugene Ashby, Oregon; three brothers and two sisters, Thomas Asbby, Spanish Fork; Albert Ashby, Payson; Heber Ashby, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Henry (Mary) Clark, Spanish Fork, and Mrs. Floyd (Inza) Brown, Koosharem.
Funeral services will be announced later by Walker Mortuary, Spanish Fork.
