Ernest Altis, 61, son of Addison Altis and Elsie Sigman Altis was born October 3, 1916 at Solo, Mo. and died June 1, 1978 in the Veterans Hospital at Columbia, Mo.

He was united in marriage to Virginia Myers July 9, 1939 at Mtn. Home Ark.

Survivors include his wife; four sisters, Esther Lilly, Blanche Mueller and Fern Fogg all of Houston and Beulah Thieman of Higginsville, Mo. and 16 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Arvil, Lloyd and Ray

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Houston. Preceding his military service he was in the poultry and egg business for a number of years in Houston. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving his country in the Pacific area from November **(some is missing here)** one Bronze Star, Good conduct Medal, Combat Infantry, badge with three overseas bars. His units were C. B 105 Infantry, 27th Division and 11th Airborne Division with Army of Occupation. Following the service he farmed on the home place. He then worked with Holder Construction Company and finally was employed at Ft. Leonard Wood under Civil Service until his retirement in September 1974.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 3 in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Yelton officiating. Burial was in the Pinelawn Cemetery under the direction of the Evans Funeral home.
