Clinton Herald Thursday June 26, 1941 p. 5 William B. Disbrow, 64, of 2213 North Second street, well known for his participation in civic affairs in the north-end, died at 1:40 a.m. today in Mercy hospital, following a stroke suffered Tuesday. The body will repose in the Shadduck funeral home, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Frederic G. Williams, rector of Grace Episcopal church. Rose Croix burial services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. at the grave in Oakland cemetery. William Disbrow was born April 7, 1877, in the old town of Lyons, the son of M.A. and Mary S. Lincoln Disbrow. He spent his entire life in this community and was connected with the old M.A. Disbrow Sash and Door factory here. He received his education in Kemper hall, Davenport, and Harvard School for Boys, Chicago, and finished at St. John's Military academy, Manlius, N.Y. His marriage to Miss Ethel Chenoweth, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Albert Chenoweth of Camanche, took place June 26, 1902, in Camanche. Mr. Disbrow was a member of Grace church, Lyons lodge, 93, A.F. and A.M., DeMolay consistory, A.A.S.R. Masons, and Kaaba Temple, Shriniers, Davenport. He was an honorary life member of the Lyons Ex-Service Men, Post 1. The office of the M.A. Disbrow company, which now is a club house for the Ex-Service men, was donated by William Disbrow to the post. Surviving are his widow; three children, Grace at home, Mary, who is a reserve nurse with the United States army at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and a son, William Kenneth, who is with the 34th division United States army, at Camp Claiborne, La., and one sister, Miss Flora Disbrow of Long Beach, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Martin, and a sister, Mrs. Irene Disbrow DuBois.
