John A. Monteith, Jr., age 37, a native of Blue Rapids, KS., died at his home in Blue Rapids, Tuesday morning Jan 8, 1929 at 11:15 o'clock following a short illness.
John was born the son of John Andrew Monteith, Sr and Sarah Fincham Monteith on Aug 31, 1892 near Blue Rapids, KS. On June 16, 1926 he married Miss Bessie Lillie Wilson, daughter of James and Mamie Robbins Wilson, of Blue Rapids. Mr. Monteith was a member of the Blue Rapids I.O.O.F. Lodge.
He is survived by his widow, his mother, Mrs. Sarah Fincham Monteith, Blue Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Critchlow, Blue Rapids, and Mrs. Rex Newman, Marysville, KS; and three brothers, Walter and Millard, both of Waterville, KS and Merle, Frankfort, KS. A son Donald Millard died in infancy.
The funeral was held at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Blue Rapids Methodist Church. Interment was made in Fairmont Cemetery, Blue Rapids, KS.
