Obituary for William Gottlieb Sigmund from the Catoctin Clarion newspaper, early May, 1911:

"SIGMUND. Mr. Wm. G. Sigmund, a lifelong resident of this place, died at his home on W. Main Street, early Thursday morning last, after an illness of several weeks, aged 66 years, 1 month and 16 days. Early in life Mr. Sigmund married Miss Alverda Weddle, a daughter of the late James Weddle. To them was born seven children, four boys, Roy, Meade, Lester and Marion, and three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Grove, Mrs. Anna Grove, and Miss Edith, all of whom, with their mother, live to mourn the loss of a father and husband. The deceased was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was a regular attendant at divine services. He was a member of Good Samaritan Lodge, I. O. O. F., for many years, having attained the rank of Past Grand. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, April 29th, at the home of the deceased, his pastor, Rev. M. L. Beard, officiating. Interment was made in the U. B. Cemetery. The pallbearers, members of Good Samaritan Lodge, were Messrs. W. O. Wertenbaker, Chas. M. Root, Geo. N. English, Chas. E. Null, Chas. R. Eyler and Jas. H. Firor. M. L. Creager, funeral director."
