He was born in Au Sable Forks, New York, on April 11, 1939, the son of Jerry and Marie (Sawyer) Kyea.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's of the Lake Church on Cumberland Head, Plattsburgh, an employee at the Clinton Correctional Facility, a member of the Cumberland Head Knights of Columbus Council #7271, a former volunteer firefighter at Cumberland Head and a former Cumberland Head fire commissioner.
Most recently, he was the youth coordinator for the Cumberland Head Youth Commission and he coached Little League baseball and youth hockey.
He was survived by his parents, who live in Au Sable Forks; his wife, the former Gail Green of Plattsburgh; two sons, Michael and Jared, and one daughter, Suzanne, all living at home; five brothers, Floyd of Rochester, New York, Paul of Plattsburgh and Roger, Robert and Marvin, all of Au Sable Forks; three sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Virginia) Wray of Vestel, New York, Mrs. Ralph (Gertrude) Klubertahz of Rochester and Miss Marlene Kyea of Glens Falls, New York; and several nieces and nephews.
One brother, Wallace Kyea, died in February 1983.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday, October 29, 1983, at noon, at St. Mary's of the Lake Church on Cumberland Head.
Burial followed in the parish cemetery.
