TEXAS CITY — Services for James Jackson Walker, 89, a retired pipefitter's helper, will be 10 a.m. today at James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, the Revs. A. O. Singer and J. P. Taylor officiating.

Burial will be at Forest Park East in League City.

Mr. Walker died Thursday at the Texas City home of his daughter.

He was born March 20, 1893, in Pleasant Hill, La., and had lived in Texas City since 1942. A former employee of Amoco Oil Co., he was a member of Memorial Baptist Church of La Marque and a veteran of World War I.

Mr. Walker is survived by two daughters, Edith Hammock of Texas City and Lurline Gates of Diboll; three sons, Bobby Walker of Texas City, Marvin Walker of Galliano, La., and Bruce Walker of Oak Grove, La.; a sister, Almeda Waller of Monroe, La.; a brother, Lee Walker of Winnfield, La.; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Walker Jr., Conley Walker, Tommy Walker, Mark Walker, James Burch and Roger Hammock.

Visitors may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. today.
