John H. Walker Dies In Bastrop; Funeral Friday

BASTROP (Special) -- Funeral services are set for John Henry Walker, 77, of Bastrop, who died Wednesday morning at Garnier Clinic, after a short illness. He has three survivors in the Monroe area.

He lived in Morehouse Parish for 14 years, and was a retired farmer.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 2 p.m., at Primitive Baptist Church in Oak Grove, with the Rev. Leland Swanner of Jonesboro officiating.

Burial will be in Carter's Cemetery, Collinston, under direction of Gay's Funeral Home of Bastrop. The body will lie in state at the chapel until Friday noon.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. J. H. Walker, Bastrop; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Higgins, Willard, Ohio; Mrs. Era Simpson, Bastrop; Mrs. Ethel Hagan, Bastrop; four sons, James E. Walker, Collinston; Willis Walker, Collinston; Charles Walker, California; J. H. Walker Jr., Tu[c]son, Ariz.; five brothers, Lee Walker, Winnfield; Alf Walker, Monroe; Jim Walker, Texas City, Tex.; Robert Walker, Winnfield; Carl Walker, Monroe; one sister, Mrs. H. J. Waller, Monroe; 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
