Great Bend -- Clem W. Lang, 75, died Friday, April 21 at his home in rural Great Bend. He was born Dec. 19, 1919 at Ellis, the son of Jacob and Anna Schumacher Lang.
A Great Bend resident for 45 years, moving from Scott City, he was the former owner of the Family Barber Shop at Great Bend and also a former employee of the Prestige Coffee Co. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
On Oct. 29, 1946 he married Mary Ann Schmeidler at Serverin. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Curtis, Denver, Harvey, Bryan, Texas, and Willie, Topeka; two daughters, Sametta Glass, Tewksbury, Mass., and Jackie Herron, Enid, Okla.; five sisters, Mary Younger, Lee's Summity, Mo., Helen Younger and Katie Engstrand, both of Ellis, Sue Debes, Ness City, and Lydia McMullen, Plainville; and six grandchildren.
Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home, Great Bend. His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend, with father Charles Mazouch presiding. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the St. Severin Cemetery, Severin, with Father Earl Befort presiding.
Memorial may be sent to the Hertzler Clinic at Halstead or to the church, both in care of the funeral home.
