Ness City -- Susan "Sue" A. Debes, 89, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born April 28, 1913, in Ellis to Jacob and Anna (Schumacher) Lang.

She married Otto Debes on May 30, 1933, in Ellis.

She was a homemaker and resident of Ness County since 1933. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society, both of Ness City.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Brookhart, Ness City; a sister, Lydia McMullen, Plainville; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Alden Debes, an infant daughter, Diana, four brothers, John, Ted, Killian and Clem Lang, and four sisters, Tillie Schoenberger, Mary Younger, Helen Younger and Katie Engstrand.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ness City, with Father Gregory LeBlanc officiating; burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A parish vigil is at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, and after 5 p.m. Thursday and until 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the church.
