Thelma A. Widmer

July 3, 1917 ~ January 15, 2013

Thelma A. Widmer, 95, a longtime resident of Peshastin and Leavenworth, WA, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 15, 2013. She was born on July 3, 1917, at Columbus, MT to Clint and Martha (George) Avey. At the age of two, they moved to Peshastin, where she was raised and educated. On June 21, 1938, she married Alvin Widmer at Wenatchee and the couple made their home in Peshastin. While there, she worked in the fruit orchards and at raising her family. Thelma loved cooking for her family, especially "Spud Nuts," her famous potato doughnuts.

Thelma is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Lori Widmer of Alaska and John and Jessica Widmer of Peshastin; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, in 2010; a daughter, Rose Marie; two sisters; and eight brothers.

A Funeral Service of Commemoration to celebrate the life of Thelma A. Widmer will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Ward's Funeral Chapel, 303 Pine Street, Leavenworth. Interment will be in the Peshastin Cemetery at a later date. A no host gathering will be held at Krystall's Restaurant in Leavenworth. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
