Charlie Rufus Aldridge, a native of Caswell County, NC, was the son of Hulda Ann Page and William Thomas Aldridge. He was the spouse of Elsie Pauline Simmons, the father of Katrine Hall, Polly Lewis, Merry Parrott, Evonne Pruitt, Elaine Wrenn, Charles Kenneth Aldridge, Edison 'Eddie' Aldridge and George Wesley Aldridge and brother of eleven siblings.

He was a longtime farmer and retired from the textile industry. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Caswell Ward and was an avid lover of bluegrass music. He celebrated his 100th birthday in May 2012.
