"Dulcie" was the daughter of Jeremiah Vail, Sr. and Mary Bradley and granddaughter of John Michael Vail and Rachel Funderburk (granddaughter of Hans Devauld Funderburk of Germany to America). She married John Newton Strickland ca 1874 in Mt. Olive, LA. Their children: Frank, James E., Minnie Lee and Frances Jane Strickland.
