Angelo Dugo

Angelo passed away in the early morning hours of Oct. 23rd with his family and caregiver Sandy Leon by his side. He was born in Chicago on Good Friday, April 6, 1917 to Biaggio (Charles) and Rose Dugo.
Angelo is survived by his children, Angela Wegner of Sutter Creek, Bill (Joyce) Dugo, Maryrose (Jim) Wheeler, Ann (Jim) Santini of Escalon, Carla (Bob) Guzzino of Canyon Lake, CA, Betty Lial and George (Kathy) Judd of Escalon and Robert (Grace) Judd of El Paso, Texas. He had 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Angelo is also survived by his brother Joe Dugo of Turlock, sisters Mary Bambacigno and Rose Bambacigno both of Modesto.
During WWII Angelo enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and became a combat photographer with the 3rd Marine Division. His duty was to document the conflicts on the islands of Guadalcanal and Bougainville. After Angelo returned from the war, he started Dugo's Photo in Escalon. He joined the Escalon Police Department in the 1950's and rose to the rank of Sergeant before retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and The American Legion. He was proud and honored to present the flag to survivors of veterans and to raise the flag at the Veterans Day Parade. He was a founding member of the Escalon Historical Society with his pictures of past and present Escalon displayed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rose Dugo, sisters Virginia Mussomelli, Lena Dugo Underwood, Genevieve Worley. Brothers Tom, Carlo, Charlie and Sam Dugo. He was also preceded in death by his wives Mary and Jean and his son in law,Jim Wegner.
Visitation will be at Deegan Funeral Chapel, Escalon on Monday, October 29th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Rosary and Funeral Mass at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Ripon, Tues. October 30th at 9:30 a.m.
Donations may be made to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto or Escalon Community Ambulance Fund, 1480 Ullrey Ave., Escalon, CA
