Rufus, Benjamin, Ambrose, Enos, Joseph W., John and A. Dana who was the only child born in Allegany Co NY, and daughters, Fanny, Martha G., Lucy. The rest of children were born in Luzerne Co PA, the parents of Joseph and Prudence Parks Corey. Joseph was the son of Jonathan and Martha Cooke Corey, Prudence was the daughter of Amos and Grace Herrick Parks.
It is claimed by some researchers that A. Dana was a daughter, that is not correct and that his father, Joseph's middle name was Alvin. I've not been able to locate any evidence, nor have they to substantiate this. I mention this being that A. Dana may, could very well be Alvin.
03 Jul 1778 Wyoming Valley PA Massacre Joseph's brothers, Jenks, Rufus and Anson were killed in an Indian attack. Joseph escaped death or capture by hiding along a river bank.
1778 Revolutionary War Joseph did serve. We don't have in depth info on his service, but enough to confirm his serving.
Joseph and Prudence moved their family from Pa to Steuben Co NY between 1800-1810. There he bought a Grist Mill in Almond Allegany Co NY, 11 Jun 1818 he died from a fall within his mill.
It is not known what A. Dana died from, but he now lies with his parents.
Their children married and several moved westward across this great nation as seeds carried by the winds of time, alighting when the winds ebbed. Others to move ever westward to the land of California.
