From William's obituary in "The Flint Journal," page 22, dated 12 April 1949; HICKS - William E. Hicks, 1071 Forrest Ave. age 45, died Sunday, April 10, 1949, at the residence. Funeral services will be held 3:30 P.M., Wednesday, April 13, 1949, from the Colonial Chapel, Reigle Funeral Home, 2417 S. Saginaw St., Rev. Arthur Slater officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Body will be at the funeral home. Death was due to a heart attack. He was born in New Madrid County, Missouri. Sept. 15, 1903, son of Thomas and Molly Hicks, and lived the last 22 years in Flint. He married Daisy P. Conway in Flint, October 27th, 1945. Was a Past Member of American Legion, Member of UAW-CIO Local #659. He was employed at Chevrolet Motor division last 19 years, Line inspector plant #4. Surviving are: Wife, Mrs. Daisy Hicks; 2 brothers, C.D. Hicks of Flint, Charles Hicks of Kennett, Mo; 3 sisters, Mrs. Olcy Allen and Mrs. Myrtle Henry, both of Parma, Missouri, Mrs. Raleigh Sexton of Hammond, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
