The Journal is in receipt of the Shubert (Nebraska) Citizen of last Friday announcing the death of Mrs. Susanna Ballard, at the advanced age of eighty eight years. Mrs. Ballard was a sister to David, Daniel, Henry and Julius Baum, all pioneers of this county and all of whom have preceded her in death. She came to this county in 1825 with her parents, Daniel and Asaneth Baum, emigrant-from Ross county, Ohio. She was married to Jeremiah Ballard soon after moving to this county. Her husband died in 1846 and in 1861 Mrs. Ballard left for her western home. She was an aunt to George W. and John L. Baum and Mrs. A. B. Martin of this city.
