Elizabeth Baum was the sixth of twelve known children of Daniel Baum Sr. (1780-1857) and Asenath Meyers Rothrock (1781-1870), who married 20 Feb 1801 at Mifflin County, Pennsylania.

Elizabeth married Christopher VanDeventer (1803-1891) on 12 Feb 1831 at Carroll County, Indiana. Elizabeth and Christopher were the parents of twelve known children, namely:

Some records show the father Christopher was born 03 Nov 1802. Some records show Elizabeth died on 13 Jul 1879 or 17 Jun 1879. Which is correct? A death notice for Chris in the 08 Apr 1891 edition of theJewell County Monitor newspaper says he was 87 years old at the time of his death and his remains were sent to Stella for burial. In 1850 the parents, Isaac, Mary Ann, Morgan, George, James, Ira, Eliza Jane, Margaret and Matilda were living at District No. 130, White County, Indiana. In 1860 the parents, Morgan, Jonas, Ira, Jane, Margaret, Matilda John and Reuben were living at Nemaha City, Richardson County, Nebraska. All the children were listed as being born in Indiana. In 1870 the family was living at Township 3, Range 15, Richardson County, Nebraska with the parents, Ira, Jane, Reuben and the widowed daughter Margaret. In 1880 the widower Christopher was living with his sons Ira and John and daughter Elizabeth Jane at Center Township, Jewell County, Kansas.
