Daughter of Betty Lee Young & James Josiah Clark and she was one of eleven children in total. She married in Callahan County Texas on 27 Jun 1901 to Arthur Dudley Franklin Augusta Purvis much against her Father's wishes.

Marriage in those days often happened at a young age, and though Lula was just shy of her 16th, and a four year difference in their ages, her Father himself married his wife when she was only 16 and he almost 7 years her senior. Despite his many threats against Arthur for taking his daughter, Lula stayed in a loving marriage until her passing. She and Arthur also had eleven children all who lived to an old age with the exception of Dovie Adeline who sadly passed just after her second birthday to the great flu pandemic.
