GIBSON CITY -- A. Jerome Benway, 79, of Gibson City, formerly of Strawn, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday (April 22, 2000) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center Bloomington.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, the Rev. Father Robert Spilman officiating. Burial will be in St. Rose Catholic Cemetery, Strawn. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Rose Catholic Church or to an organization of the donor's choice.
Mr. Benway was born on Sept. 14, 1920, at Strawn, a son of Albert J. and Anna C. Rudolph Benway. He married Jean Lenore Hair on June 27, 1953. She died Nov. 29, 1998.
He is survived by two sons, Lonnie Benway, Strawn; and Jeff (Mary) Benway, Bloomington; one daughter, Shelley (Daniel) Ladtkow, Streator; four brothers, William Benway, Gibson City; Weldon Benway, Strawn, Keith Benway, Sibley; and Paul Benway, Anchor; three sisters, Ann Rebholz, Chatsworth; Helen Kelly, Wahburn; Loretta Wiesinger, Newport Beach, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and one half-sister.3
