A.J. Benway, Strawn, Passes Away Suddenly
Albert J. Benway, a lifelong resident of the Strawn Vicinity passed away suddenly of a heart attack at the home south of Strawn on Last Thursday morning. The body was found by Mrs. Benway in the barn about 11:30 o'clock that morning. He was aged 56 years, 8 months and 25 days. Coroner Kenneth Essington, Odell, conducted an inquiry into the death of Mr. Benway.
Albert Joseph Benway, oldest son of Joseph and Mary (Kuntz) Benway was born on a farm west of Sibley, August 2, 1886. He married Miss Effie Pearson on September 10, 1907. She preceded him in death in 1909. On February 21, 1913, he married Miss Anna Rudolph, who survives, with his aged mother, Mrs. Mary Gullberg and the following children: a daughter from his first marriage, Mrs. Josephine Marlin of south of Strawn. He also leaves six sons, Joe, William Jerome, Paul, Weldon and Keith, all of Strawn and five daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Rebholz of Piper city; Mrs. Laverne Kurtenbach of Chatsworth; Mrs. Helen Kelly of Washburn; Miss Loretta Benway and Miss Gloria Benway of Strawn; two grandchildren, two brothers, William and Oscar of Strawn, and two sisters, Mrs. Edna Reed and Miss Vera Gullberg, both of Strawn.
He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and St. Rose's Catholic Church.
He was assessor of Fayette township for twelve years and served as president of the board of education of Strawn schools.
