He died at age 66 in his home in Del Norte. His Funeral was March 9, 1990 in Sharp Funeral Home. The burial in Del Norte Cemetery.
Phares was born Feb 19, 1924, in Sherman, son of Carl and Lizzie Phares. He married Juanita Buse in 1945 in Carlsbad, N.M.. He worked for the Colorado Highway Depart. and owned a saw mill. He worked with the U.S. Navy in WWII.
Survivors included his mother Lizzie Phares Skipworth of Denison; son, Sam of Del Norte; two daughters, Sandie Davies of Montrose, Colo.; and Mrs. Pat Phillips of Buena Vista, Colo.; brother, Tom of Denison, TX; sister, Betty Watkins of Pagosa Springs, Colo; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
