His obituary as follows: Graveside services for Tom Johnson Phares, 71, of Denison, who died May 25, 1997, at Texoma Medical Center, will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery in Denison.
The Rev. Bob Cantwell will officiate. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison has charge of arrangements. Mr Phares was born July 29, 1925 in Clarksville, Texas. His parents are Carl & Lizzie Mae Phares.
On April 6, 1979, Mr. Phares married Gladys E. (Shade)Phares in Denison.
He was a machinist for Hardwick-Etter Co., and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a Baptist and a member of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys E. Phares of Denison; three daughters, Lucile and husband Charles Cobb of Layton, Utah, Sondra Phares Tushek and husband Gordon of Peachtree GA, and Tommye Ruth and husband George Selig of Tucson AZ, stepson Raymond Dillon of Sherman, stepdaughter Elizabeth Dillon of Colorado Springs; one sister Betty and husband Jim Watkins of Pagosa Springs, CO; grandchildren Michael Phares, Richie Drake, Lisa Bostrack, Robert Sexton, Lonnie Sexton, Jennifer Ramburg and Daniel Ramburg II and five great-grandchildren.
Pall bearers will be Jimmy Eurley, Bill Carr, Gordie Tushek, Raymond Dillon, Jerry Phares and Jim Watkins, Honorary pallbearer will be Daniel Ramburg.
The family will be at Bratcher Funeral Home Tuesday from & to 8 p.m.

Tom married Emma Gorey February 1947 they eloped to Ruidoso New Mexico, they had two daughters and divorced 15 April 1949. He married Anne Baxter in Lovington New Mexico 19 Dec. 1950 they had one daughter and divorced July 1957 in Florida.
