Gerald was employed as a farm laborer in the Alton (IA), Remsen, and Granville vicinities. After their marriage, Gerald and Edith lived on a farm four miles northwest of Marcus, Iowa, until March 1949, when they moved to a farm 7½ miles northwest of Remsen.
Gerald and Edith had 6 children: Don, Ron, Larry, David, Sharon, and Carla.
Gerald farmed until his death on December 26, 1973.
