COOKEVILLE - Funeral services for Alvin W. Boyd of Cookeville will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, at Cookeville First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Cookeville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. on Friday, June 5, at Dyer Funeral Home.
Mr. Boyd was dead on arrival at Cookeville Regional Medical Center today, June 4, 1998.
He was born in Putnam County to the late Ernest Houston Boyd Sr. and Mattie Ragland Boyd. Mr. Boyd was a veteran of World War II and a graduate of Samford University. He was a Rotarian and a life-long member and elder at Cookeville First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Boyd was also a member of V.F.W. and the American Legion Post #46. He was a retired pharmacist and owner of Boyd Drug Store in Cookeville.
His family includes his wife, a brother, two sisters, two nephews, and a great-niece.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, William Hardin Boyd.
