b. 26 April 1917 – d. 21 May 2002, d/o Ernest Houston Boyd Sr. (1879-1956)& Mattie Hughes Ragland (1885-1981).

COOKEVILLE Graveside services for Mary Butler Boyd, 85, of Cookeville will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, at Cookeville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today, Wednesday, May 22, at Whitson Funeral Home.
Miss Boyd died on Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
She was born on April 26, 1917, in Cookeville to the late Judge Ernest Houston Boyd Sr. and Mattie Ragland Boyd. She was a retired Civil Service worker for the U.S. Government. Prior to that, she taught at Goodlettsville High School.
Miss Boyd was a graduate of Tennessee Polytechnic Institute. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cookeville.
Her family includes a sister, Avo Boyd Evans of Cookeville; a brother, Ernest Houston Boyd Jr. of Cookeville; a sisterinlaw, Julia Boyd of Cookeville; two nephews, Ernest Boyd Evans of Nashville and Walter Lee Evans III of Richmond, Va.; a greatniece, Angela Dawn Lutzker; and a greatgreatnephew, Jack A. Lutzker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin Whitten Boyd and William Hardin Boyd.
