b. 12 May 1921, Putnam Co., TN – d. 11 September 2013, Cookeville, Putnam Co., TN, s/o Ernest Houston Boyd Sr. (1879-1956)& Mattie Hughes Ragland (1885-1981).

COOKEVILLE — Funeral services for Ernest Houston Boyd Jr, 92, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday Sept. 16, from the chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Boyd died suddenly on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at his home.
He was born May 12, 1921, in Cookeville to the late Judge Ernest Houston (E.H.) and Mattie Hughes Ragland Boyd.
Mr. Boyd received his civil engineer degree form Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (TTU) and his law degree from Cumberland University.
He was a well known attorney in Cookeville for his entire professional career. He was a member of Cookeville First Presbyterian Church and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his two nephews, Ernest Evans of Cookeville and Walter L. Evans III of Gaithersburg, Md., and his greatniece, Angela Lutzker of Arlington, Va.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Butler Boyd and Avo Boyd Evans, and two brothers, Alvin W. Boyd and William H. Boyd.
