Elizabeth Bell Muse was the sister of my great-grandfather, Rev. Joseph B. Muse and the daughter of Robert & Jane [née McKell] Muse from Starkville, Oktibbeha County, Mississippi. Known as Lizzie, she was born on September 1st 1850. Lizzie was named for her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth [née Bell] McKell, a charter member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.

On November 23, 1871 at the home of her great-aunt, Isabella Bell Montgomery; Lizzie married Grey Sills Alston, son of Dr. John H. and Virginia Sills Alston, also from Starkville, Mississippi. The result of this union has been the following known children:

Robert Clarence (1874 – 1935)
Musadera "Musa" (1877 – 1933)
John Hayward (1878 – 1953)
Wallace (1880 – 1946)
Joseph Thomas (1883 - 1954)
Harry Sills (1885 - 1961)
David Pressly (1888 – 1945)
Parke Daniel (1892 – 1970)

For several years, Lizzie and Grey lived in Mobile, Alabama to be closer to some of their children. They returned in 1920 to Starkville were Lizze died January 28, 1924. She is buried in the Alston Family Plot at Odd Follows, next to her husband, Grey.
