FAIRVIEW - John Caratat Burnside, 83, died December 31, 1992.
He was born November 16, 1909 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, a son of John Mason and Mary Loretta Rowe Burnside.
He married Thelma Ann Graham October 29, 1938 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
John and Thelma solemnized their marriage in the Manti LDS Temple in April 1939.
John grew up in Mountainville, where he gained a love of the land, which continued in his farming interests.
He was a skilled mechanic, always able to offer a suggestion.
John retired from the coal mines in Carbon County, where he gained the respect of fellow workers.
He also worked contrustion of J.M. Sumsion Co.
An active member of the LDS Church, he served his ward, did temple work, and was a High Priest of the Fairview First Ward.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma; sons: William G., Salt Lake; John G., Helena, Montana; George H., Littleton, Colo.; daughters: Mrs. James (Oneita) Sumsion, Springville; Mrs. David (Lorraine) Larsen, Fairview; and Mrs. John(Barbara) Nercesian, Ogden; 28 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister: Mrs. Ferrel (Edna) Spens, Moroni.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jesse C. Burnside, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 4, 1993 at 11 a.m. in the Fairview First LDS Ward Chapel.
Friends may call at Ursenbach Funeral Home, 96 N. 100 W., Mt. Pleasant, Sunday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. or Monday at the ward chapel one hour prior to services.
Burial in Fairview Cemetery with military honors.
