Alvie was the 11th of Samuel Taylor & Mary "Mollie" (Mansfield) Preston's 12 children.
He married Ruby Frances Barnett, the daughter of William Arthur & Alice (Clayton) Barnett, on March 24, 1928. His brother, Sam, married Ruby's sister, Elizabeth "Lizzie."
Their children were Pearl Ellen (1928), Emmett (1931), Duttie Inez (1933), Joe Lonnie (1935), Alvie Mariece (1937), & Marion Wayne (1939).
The sixth month of June was a tragedy for Alvie & his children. Ruby, age 31, lost her last baby due to hemorrhaging. On June 20, 1942, she was admitted to Graham Hospital in Graham, Young Co, TX where she died at 8:45 p.m. three days later. Her death was from Puerperal Infection & Septicemia. She was buried on June 25.
Alvie lived 30 more years. He had been in Wichita Falls six days when he was admitted to the Wichita Falls State Hospital for treatment. Alvie died from Heart Failure due to Arteriosclerosis at 8:50 p.m. on July 10, 1972. He was 70 years old.
His body was transported to Jacksboro where he was buried in Long Hollow Cemetery.
