Alice was the daughter of Samuel Taylor & Mary "Mollie" (Mansfield) Preston.

She married John Joseph Butler on August 28, 1904. Their children were: Alda Chloner, Alto C., Joseph "Doc" Alfred, Mary Jane, John Edward, Chester "Check" Russell, Estella Mae, & Leona Bernice.

John helped support the family by working in the oil industry as a pumper. He had a stroke (Middle Cerebral Artery Thrombosis), which was followed by Pneumonia Aspiration causing his death on August 17, 1942. He was 71 years old. Alice died on August 27, 1982, at the age of 100.

Jacksboro, Texas - Alice Butler, 100, died Friday following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Bryson Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Prince, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Finis Cemetery under direction of Hawkins Funeral Home.

Born Sept. 3, 1881, in Clay County, Texas, she lived in Bryson 60 years and was a member of Bryson Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Johnny E. of Bryson and Chester of Archer City, Texas; three daughters, Mary Denning and Bernice Keiser, both of Bryson, and Estelle Rose of Oregon; 42 grandchildren; 109 great-grandchildren; 71 great-great-great-grandchildren."
