Bessie was the daughter of Samuel Taylor & Mary "Molie" (Mansfield) Preston. Samuel was the twin brother of John Foster Preston (sons of John Foster & Christina Socrider Preston).

She married David Spencer Gaskin in Jacksboro, TX on April 14, 1916. She gave birth to four children: Harvie born in March 30, 1917; John David, born Nov. 3, 1918; Alvie Fran, born April 8, 1920; & Claudia Mae, born Jan. 24, 1922.

David fractured his leg sometime around Sept. 7, & died from complications (embolism on his brain) on Sept. 10, 1926.

In May 1939 Bessie, a resident of Jacksboro, had been diagnosed with Carcinoma of the Cervix. She had a hysterectomy on Oct. 27, 1939. By Nov. 1, she had developed Nephritis & an Intestinal Obstruction. She died on Nov. 4. She was 46 years old.

Bessie's sister, Mrs. John Butler of Bryson, TX, was the informant on her death record. She was buried on the day of her death.
