Mrs. Ella Ross

Mrs. Ella L. Ross, 78, of 198 Parker Road, Sarver, a charter member of Rhodes Sisterhood Dames of Malta Chapter 31 of Tarentum, died yesterday (June 3, 1969) in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights.

Mrs. Ross, who has never fully recovered from a mild stroke suffered four years ago, had been hospitalized five weeks.

Born to Robert B. and Lavina Culp Carney, on Dec. 1, 1890, in the Millertown community of Fawn Township, she had always lived in the greater Tarentum community.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Natrona Heights and of Tarentum Council, Daughters of America.

Surviving Mrs. Ross are five sons: Marlin E. Ross, Fawn Township; K. Delroy Ross, Westminster, Calif., CTCM Virgil D. Ross of Sarver, but stationed in Washington D.C.; Richard C. and Wendell L. Ross, both of Sarver.

She also leaves six daughters: Mrs. Harry (Mardelle) Humes Sr., Mrs. Daniel (Audrey) Ankrom, Mrs. Ernest (Val Jean) Campbell and Mrs. Richard (Shirley) McBee, all of Sarver; Mrs. Kenneth (Dorothea) Delp, Natrona Heights; and Mrs. Arthur (Twila) DeMao, Ramsey.

Two brothers; Addison Carney, Lower Burrell, and Robert Carney, Chicago; a sister, Mrs. Duncan (Harriett) Patterson, Natrona Heights; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lenora Deskins, Brackenridge; 55 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren also survive.

A sister, Mrs. Annie Flick of Mcdonald died May 2 and Mrs. Ross' husband, Harry A. Ross, died in 1956.

From 7 to 9 this evening and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Thursday and Friday the family will receive friends in the Ferver-Krynicki Funeral Home, Second Avenue and Corbet Street, Tarentum. Here the Rev. F. B. Miller, pastor of Wesleyan Methodist Church of Sarver, will conduct a funeral service Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Mount Airy Cemetery, Natreona Heights. (Dames of Malta service Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home).
