Shirley A. McBee, 85, of Butler, passed away Sunday, May 21, while in the company of family, at Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia in Cabot.

Shirley is formerly of Buffalo Township.

Shirley was born in Natrona Heights on Dec. 25, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Ella (Carney) and Harry A. Ross. She was the widow of Richard H. "Buzz" McBee, who passed in 2000.

Shirley had worked at Saxonburg Ceramics as a kiln operator for many years.

She enjoyed animals, watching sports and NASCAR racing. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by four daughters, Cheryl Kestner, of Buffalo Township, Beverly McBee, of Denver, Colo., Barb and Kirk Bauer, of Bessemer, Pa., and Donna and David Claypool, of South Buffalo Township; and three sons, David and Karen McBee, of Hooversville, Pa., Eugene McBee, of South Buffalo Township, and Gary McBee, of Tidioute, Pa. Shirley is also survived by her 19 grand-, 43 great-grand-, eight great-great-grandchildren and her sister, Mardelle Humes, of Buffalo Township.

She was preceded in death by her son, Richard A. McBee Sr.; two grandsons, Paul McBee and Chad Coleman; her granddaughter, Laci McCandless; six sisters, Audrey Ankron, Dorothea Delp, Doris Ross, Twila DeMao, ValJean Campbell and one in infancy; and six brothers, Marlin, Delroy, Harry, Virgil, Wendall and Richard Ross.

Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, at Redmond Funeral Home Inc., 524 High St., in Freeport.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 25, in the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Pawloski of Bairdford United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be held in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Orphans of the Storm, 11878 Pennsylvania 85, Kittanning, PA 16201; or any humane society of choice.
