APACHE Funeral for Calvin Ed Alexander, 95, Apache, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Crews Funeral Home Chapel, Apache, with the Rev. Leon Shade officiating.

Mr. Alexander died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at his home.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 23, 1914, in the Broxton area, to Ed and Mary Rathjens Alexander. He graduated from Broxton High School in 1932. He married Zelma Alivia Massey on Nov. 28, 1934, in Chickasha. He farmed in the Broxton area, raising wheat, cotton and corn. In 1974, he retired from farming and moved to El Reno. He returned to Apache in 1996. He enjoyed baseball and basketball. His greatest passion was gardening, and he kept a garden until this past year.

Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law: Cleon Calvin Alexander, El Reno; Carrol Ray Alexander, Plano, Texas; and Billie Gene and Judy Alexander, Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren and their spouses: Cheryl and Roger Cosper, Susan and Kelley Schwartz, Bradley Bomhoff, Krista and Chris Smith, Kylee and Brian Hufnagel, Crystal Alexander, Darlene Alexander, Jana and Mitch Stewart, Jason and Theresa Moore, Brent and Audra Alexander and Joel and Liz Alexander; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother and sister-in-law, Clayton and Imogene Alexander, Lawton; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Zelma; two sisters: Mable Cost and Juanita Alexander; an infant brother; and an infant great-grandson.
