Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Whitcraft, 78, died in the Stratford House, Wabash, at 12:30 AM Tuesday. She had been ill five years and had been at the nursing home nine months.
Mrs. Whitcraft was a lifetime resident of Wabash County and a member of the Lincolnville United Methodist Church, the WSWS, and the Lincolnville Home Demonstration Club.
She was born Feb. 28, 1890 to James and Martha (Kendall) Swaney. She married Ray Steele Whitcraft on Oct. 14, 1908, and he survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Robert L., Wabash, James R. Marion, and Charles E., Wabash; a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Smith, Akron, 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 6 PM Wednesday at Hunter Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 2 PM Thursday at the Lincolnville United Methodist Church. The body will be taken to the church one hour before services. The Rev. Carl Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Lincolnville.
