Vera Ashley
WARE SHOALS Vera Pitts Ashley, 81, of 6 Green Acres Dr., wife of Calvin Ashley, died Dec. 2, 2000, at her home.
Born in Ware Shoals, she was a daughter of the late J.D. and Agnes Woods Pitts. She was retired from Riegel Textile Corp. She also worked at the Ware Shoals Medical Clinic for a number of years.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Phillip Ashley of Ware Shoals; two daughters, Patty A. Wood and Angela A. Cobb, both of Ware Shoals; three brothers, R. Thelton Pitts and Rick Pitts, both of Spartanburg and Herbert Pitts of Ware Shoals; a sister, Joyce P. Maccione of Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 today at Greenwood Memorial Gardens,
conducted by the Rev. Dan Compton. Pallbearers will be Irvin Pitts Jr., Richard Cullen Pitts, Joby Pitts, Tip Pitts, Charlie Wood, Matt Ashley, David Cobb and Roger Wood.
Visitation is from 12:30 to 1:30 today at Parker White Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 408 Alexander Ave., Greenwood.
