Piedmont, SC- Robert Thelton Pitts, Sr., 88, husband of the late Betty Poore Pitts, died Sunday, October 25, 2015.

Born December 11, 1926 in Ware Shoals, SC, Robert was a son of the late James D. and Agnes Woods Pitts. He was retired from the South Carolina Highway Patrol after 30 years of service. Robert was a loving husband and father.

Robert is survived by his sons, Bob Pitts, Jr. (Margaret) of Greenville, SC, James Perry Pitts (Sandra) of Raleigh, NC, and Michael Manley Pitts of the home; a daughter, Sherry Smith of the home; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Pitts (Linda) of Laurens, SC; and a sister, Joyce Purcell (Walter) of Atlanta, GA.

A memorial service will be held Friday, October 30th, 11AM at Dunbar Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
