James [Ed] Pitts WEST COLUMBIA - James Edward Pitts, 51, of 1105 Ontario Drive, owner of Pitts Supermarket, died Sunday.

[Served in US Navy during WWII. Textile worker and entrepreneur - owned a store in West Columbia at time of death.]

Born in [Ware Shoals] Greenwood County, son of J. D. Pitts of Spartanburg and Mrs. Agnes Ruth Ward Pitts of Ware Shoals, he attended Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church. Surviving also are his wife, Mrs. Inez Finley Pitts; a daughter, Miss Susan Pitts of the home; a son, Jimmy Pitts of the home; two brothers, Herbert Fidge and Richard Pitts of Spartanburg; two sisters, Mrs. Vera Ashley of Ware Shoals and Mrs. Joyce Maccione of Atlanta, Ga. He was predeceased by a son, James Edward Pitts, Jr.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kennedy W. Bedenbaugh and the Rev. Lonnie Shull Jr. officiating. Burial will be at 4:15 p.m. in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. H. L. Carter. Pallbearers will be Glen King, Robert Brown, John Few, J. L. Hance, J. R. Griffin and Thomas L. Sebastian.
