Robert James Beecroft Eames was born November 18, 1857, in Kaysville, Utah, the second of seven children born to Henry Eames and Emma Elizabeth Beecroft. Both of his parents were born in England.
When he was a young boy, his family moved to Plain City, Utah. They built an adobe house, had a small band of sheep, milk cows and a team. Robert was just a boy of 12 when his father died. He and his older brother, Henry (who was called "Harry") age 13 had the burden of helping their mother face the future, to find work and food and keep the home and family together.
On March 29, 1880, Robert married Lucy Knight, the daughter of other Plain City settlers, Alonzo Knight and Catherine Meguire. The following year, brother Henry married Lucy's sister, Julia Knight.
In Plain City, Robert, Henry and their younger brother, Will, made bricks, stacked them in huge kilns and grubbed willows to bake them with. One summer, they sold about 40,000 bricks. In 1883, the three brothers went to Idaho for the deer hunt and to look the country over with the prospect of making homes there. They selected a piece of land on Edwards Creek where they cut and placed four house logs on a selected place that would hold the property until they could return in the spring to claim it.
In April 1884, the families moved to Almo, Idaho. At that time, Robert and Lucy had two children. They were blessed with ten children in Almo. One son, Marion, died of scarlet fever when only ten months' old.
In 1893, the three brothers formed the Eames Company, a small merchandise store. Robert later sold his interest to his brothers.
Robert Eames was a religious man and held many positions in the LDS church. He was superintendent of the Sunday School for 15 years, secretary of the M.I.A. for several years, teacher in Sunday School, ward chorister, and played in bands from the time he was a very young man. He had a musical voice and often sang in entertainments. He went on a mission to Des Moines in 1900 and another one to Seattle in 1928 when he was 70 years old.
In 1915, Robert and Lucy sold their place in Almo, Idaho, and returned to Plain City, Utah, to care for Lucy's parents. In 1917, Robert bought a farm in Harrisville, Utah. The Knights moved along, too, and stayed until their deaths in 1921 and 1927.
Robert died in Harrisville on June 26, 1937, at age 79. Lucy then moved to Salt Lake City where she spent the remaining eleven years of her life. She died of a stroke on December 7, 1948.

HARRISVILLE--Robert K. "Bob" Eames, 79, local resident and farmer since 1911, died Saturday at the family home here following a week's illness.

He was born November 18, 1857, at Kaysville, a son of Henry and Emma Becroft Eames. He moved with his parents to Plain City when still a small boy, and resided there until he married Lucy Knight in the Salt Lake City L. D. S. temple in 1880. The couple then moved to Almo, Idaho, where they resided until 1911. A member of the L. D. S. church, he was active in church affairs at Almo and at the time of his death was a high priest in the Weber L. D. S. stake.

Besides his widow he is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Elizabeth King and Mrs. Ruby McMullin of Raymond, Alberta, Canada; Mrs. Lucy Stout, Portland, Ore.; William Eames, Mrs. Viola Harris and Mrs. Mary Shurtleff, Ogden.
