Mrs. Shurtleff was born March 7, 1905, in Almo, Idaho, a daughter of Robert J. and Lucy Knight Eames.
On Sept. 15, 1926, she was married to Milton H. Shurtleff in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She had lived in Almo, Idaho; Plain City, Harrisville and Ogden.
She attended Weber County schools. She graduated from Weber Normal College and University of Utah, and attended Utah State University.
She taught school in Aeina, Wyo., and Milton, Utah.
She had been a teacher in the Sunday school, MIA and Primary, and had been counselor in the Harrisville LDS Ward Primary and Beekeeper in the North Weber Stake. She had been MIA counselor in the Harrisville and Ogden 13th wards, and MIA leader in the 33rd and 43rd wards. She had been manual counselor and president in the East Ogden Stake YWMIA and was a member of the 43rd Ward.
Surviving are her husband of Ogden; four daughters, Mrs. Arthur N. (Elaine) Webb, Carmichael, Calif.; Mrs. Howard E. (Joye Ann) Dransfield, Newtown Square, Pa.; Mrs. Lowell S. (Kathleen) Peterson, Roy; Mrs. David L. (Susan) Vandehel, Boulder, Colo.; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are one brother, William Henry Eames, Mesa, Ariz.; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth King, Mrs. Ruby E. McMullin Nilsson, both of Raymond, Alberta, Canada; Mrs. Martin H. (Viola) Harris, Harrisville; Mrs. Alva (Opal) Blackburn, Porterville, Calif.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in Lindquist and Sons Colonial Chapel with Bishop William A. Williams of the 43rd Ward officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Monday prior to services. Interment will be in the Ogden City Cemetery. Ogden Standard Examiner, October 31, 1975
