My grandmother was born, in Scammon, Kansas, the fourth child of Reuben Duval and Emelie Fourment . She was a tall strong girl and often stayed home from school to help her mother and her aunts care for the younger children.

In 1920 she married John Brannan Mossom, a miner from Yale Kansas. They had one daughter, Emily, born in 1921. In 1930 they were divorced and Rose moved to Detroit where she worked as a hairdresser, eventually buying her own beauty shop.

She married a sign painter, Don Baker, around 1932. The marriage lasted only a short time ending in divorce.

In 1941 she married Sidney Louis Simpson, a salesman from Detroit. They left the city and purchased a fruit farm in Hart, Michigan, where they lived until 1954. Sidney died of a heart attack in 1955 while they were visiting her sister, Nora, in Kansas.

After Sidney's death in 1955 she moved in with her daughter and family. She remained there until her death at the age of 96. She was burried on her 97th birthday.
