Emma and her twin brother Amy were born to Rueben Duval and Emelie Fourment on Feb 27 1905. As a child, Emma was a freckle faced tomboy, very witty and bright. She married Louis Paulich in 1925. They were later divorced. June 18 1938 she married George Smarda, a Detroit fireman who died in 1954.
