Ted was born to Reuben Duval and Emelie Fourment in Scammon Kansas. He worked in the coal mines as a young man. On Feb 10 1923, he married Elizabeth Smarda. They had one son. During the depression he and his young family moved to Detroit where Ted became a police officer. When he retired from the police force he and Liz relocated back to Kansas.
