MRS. GORDON NEWCITY DIES AT HOME HERE
Death last evening claimed Mrs. Cordon Newcity, 51, a Tulare resident since 1919. She passed away at her home on Blackstone Avenue after an extended illness.

Mrs. Newcity was born Amelia Louise Huxsol In Charles City, Iowa, July 6th, 1889 [family note: she was born in 1883 and lied about her age]. She entered nurses training school November 4th, 1910, at the University State Hospital at Iowa City, and worked as a private nurse until 1917, when she Joined the National Red Cross and was called to active duty at the base hospital at Camp Dodge, Iowa, where she served until July, 1918. She was married to Gordon Newcity July 22nd, 1918, at Perry, Iowa. They came to Tulare In July of 1919. She was a member of the National Red Cross, a Registered Nurse in California and Iowa, and a member of Tulare Chapter No. 94 of the Eastern Star.

Besides her husband. Mrs. Newcity leaves the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Nell Anderson of Berkeley, Mrs. Ida Clayton of Phoenix, Mrs. O. C. Heinze of Fort Collins, Colorado, Mrs. August Rantz of LaPorte, Indiana, and Miss Emma Huxsol, Edward, Julius and Elmer Huxsol, all of Charles City, Iowa, and her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Huxsol.

The funeral will be at 10 a. m. Saturday, at the chapel of the Hamilton Peers Funeral Service here, with Rev. Arthur L. Rice officiating and Bula McCallister as vocalist. The Eastern Star will conduct the graveside ritual at the interment in Tulare Cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Peers chapel from this evening until an hour before the funeral, and friends who wish to call to pay their respects may do so during that lime.
