Robert William Nelson, fourth child of Robert William and Virginia LaFayette Nelson, was born at Spring Valley, Powhatan Co., Va. on Aug 10, 1852. He died at Patton, Alabama on Feb 9, 1905. He married Elvia Ann Clark of Halifax County, Va. Her parent were John Clark (1825-1894) and Betty Sims Coleman (1836-1915). Elvira died 1916.
Robert and Elvira Nelson had the following children:
1. Elizabeth Sims Nelson, born March 20, 1886 & died 1976. She married Harry Gregory Whitmore. Their children: Ellie Nelson Whitmore, born 1920, and Page Gregory Whitmore, born 1925.
2. Virginia LaFayette Nelson, born 1887 & died 1979.
3. Ellie Clark Nelson, born 1889 & died 1981.
4. Robert William Nelson, born 1894 & died 1970. He married Dorothea Harper Pennington. Their children: Dorothea Pennington Nelson, born 1919. and Robert Page Nelson, born 1923.
5. Spotswood Page Nelson, born 1896 & died 1980. He married Julia Murray Forrest. Their children were: Julia Murray Nelson, born 1923. and Spotswood page Nelson, born 1925.
6. Mary Baily Nelson, born 1900 & died 1944. She married John Neil Lewis. Their children were: twins, Mary and Elvira Nelson born 1926.
