Clyde Barrick

Clyde Barrick, age 91, of Bethel MO, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012, at Salt River Community Care in Shelbina, MO. He was born May 26, 1921, in Arapaho, OK, the son of Clyde Vest and Ethel Brooke Dunn Barrick. On June 1, 1942, he was united in marriage to LaNora Anna Fisher at Arapaho, OK. She preceded him in death on July 20, 2011. Clyde is survived by six children, Phillis Gaines and husband Jimmie of Shelbyville, MO, Edward Barrick and wife Carol of Center, MO, Donna Vanskike of Shelbyville, MO, Roger Barrick and wife Debbie of Bethel, MO, Sonya Willey and husband Rodney of Shelbyville, MO and Lana Bichsel and husband Dennis of Leonard, MO; twenty grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother Clifford Barrick of Arapaho, OK and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters; one brother and one great-grandchild, LaNora Hope Vanskike. Clyde was a graduate of Arapaho, OK High School and attended college on the GI Bill, studying agriculture and forestry. He was a member of the Bethel Methodist Church and served his country in the United States Army during World War II, where he was an artillery instructor. He was a grain and livestock farmer; worked for the Shelby County ASCS Office for approximately eighteen years and served as substitute mail carrier for the Bethel Post Office. He was a member of the Shelbina American Legion, 50 year member of Shelbina Masonic Lodge and past-president of the Shelby County Public Water District #1. He loved his cattle and spending time with his family and friends. The vibrant colors of fall made this his favorite time of year. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, October 22, 2012, at the Bethel Christian Church in Bethel, MO, with burial to follow at Pleasant Prairie Cemetery near Bethel. Visitation will be held at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO, on Sunday, October 21, 2012, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Prairie Cemetery or Salt River Community Care.
