PLANO, TX - Shirley Zink Edwards, 68, died November 12, 2004 in Plano, Texas. She was born in Larned on January 23, 1936, the daughter of L.O. and Eithel Cromer Zink. On July 27, 1957, she married Richard Edwards at Great Bend, beginning a 47 year vocation as wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was active in numerous organizations and volunteer efforts including Grace Presbyterian Church where she participated as a Festival Singer in the choir, a library volunteer, a greeter and usher; Mobil Wives Club, which she formerly served as President; and Mendenhall Elementary School in Plano, where she tutored. Shirley is survived by her husband, Richard, daughter Jill Hickey and son-in-law Hal of Dallas; son, Jay and daughter-in-law Eileen of The Woodlands, Texas; grandson Kyle Hickey and his wife, Ashley of Dallas; grandson Keith Hickey of Dallas; sister, Doris Clutter of Topeka; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Carl, Clarence and Lloyd. A memorial service was held for Shirley November 14, 2004 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Plano, Texas. Donations in Shirley's memory may be made to the choir of Grace Presbyterian Church, 4300 West Park Boulevard, Plano, Texas, 75093.
