STEWART Rosalyn Murrah
beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Friday, October 5, 2012. Born in 1918 she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Massie Murrah and was raised on a farm in Campbellsville, KY. She attended Campbellsville College and graduated from the University of Kentucky, where she met and married Howard Cooke Stewart. They lived in Hindman, KY before moving to Lexington. Rosalyn taught in the Taylor County and Knott County School Systems prior to moving to Lexington. She taught first grade at Maxwell Elementary School for 22 years. She was a member of the Homemakers Society and the Retired Teachers Association and was an avid embroiderer throughout her life. She and Howard loved to travel. They were proud to say they had visited all 50 states as well as Asia, Europe and South America. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Howard; and her son Donald. She is survived by her son Jack (Shari) and her grandchildren, Lindsey (Zach) McClave, William, Allison, Donald (Pattie), Amy (Mike) Crowe, Matt (Jennifer) and great grandchildren, Aubrey, Samantha, Conner and Jacob. Funeral services will be at 2pm Monday, October 8, 2012 at Park United Methodist Church by Rev. Mike Allen and Rev. Jerry Beck. Visitation will be from 12:30-2pm Monday at the church. Burial will follow at the Lexington Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff at Bourbon Heights Nursing Home and Mayfair Village for the loving care she received.
