FAIRMONT — Goldie Massaline Fluharty, 97, of Plum Run Community, Mannington, passed away Monday (Sept. 6, 2010) at the Tygart Center in Fairmont.

She was born Dec. 12, 1912 at Plum Run, a daughter of the late Claude and Pearl Parrish Moore.

She is survived by sons, Jack Fluharty and wife Evelyn, Tom Fluharty, Danny Fluharty and wife Carolyn, and daughter, Janet Sanders and husband Tim, all of Plum Run, Jerry Fluharty and wife Sue, John Fluharty and wife Rose, all of Fairview; daughters, Nancy Gump of Shinnston, Mary Gump and Phyllis Hart and husband Lester, all of Mannington; daughter, Aneda Bretvic and husband Steve of Statlers Run; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one brother, George “Jiggs” Moore of Fairview; and a close friend, Olive Toothman of Plum Run.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Millard “Bill” Fluharty on Aug. 23, 1992; two grandsons, Mark and Mike Fluharty; two great-grandsons, Phillip Fluharty and Adam Daft; and two sons-in-law, Ronald Gump and Clarence Junior Gump.

Goldie was a member of Plum Run Baptist Church, where she taught the nursery school class for Sunday school and also assisted with Bible School. She was employed with the Marion County Board of Education at Downs Elementary School as a cook. She was an honorary member of the Plum Run Homemakers Club for more than 50 years. She enjoyed quilting, crafts and gardening.

Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Larry Kincell officiating. Burial will follow at Fluharty Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Goldie to Plum Run Baptist Church c/o Janet Sanders, 1394 Plum Run Road, Mannington, WV 26582.
